Sunday Morning Wander – Beverley

A wet and dull Sunday morning wander in the town I grew up in. It’s very strange being back here. After almost half a year in Thailand, it feels alien to be back in the UK.

Beverley is an old market town known for it’s minster, but it started raining quite heavily on this morning, so this set is taken around North Bar Within. The North bar was built in the early 1400’s and is the only one that remains of several built. It was used as a toll gate for entry into the town.

Probably the last photo post for a while as I focus (no pun intended) on the never ending cycle of writing/reading/editing the Dream Weaver novel, but more of that later.

Bangkok: Up and Down

A short walk from the Petchaburi MRT station is the Makkasan rail link to Suvarnbhumi Airport. Take the steps below the station and you see this vast empty area. I’ve been here twice and never seen anyone else. It’s like a movie set waiting for a story.

Terminal 21 is a shopping mall themed like an airport with each floor taking on a certain destination. The middle is full of escalators, including a pair that traverse several floors in one go – not for those with a fear of heights.

Bangkok: Sawasdee

I saw this every time I used the BTS skytrain at Asok. It was fairly calm during the day, but at night this area came alive with a street market with one seller setting up shop under these stairs. It wasn’t until I started exploring Asok that I began to really appreciate Bangkok. (Bit of trivia for you, Thais don’t call it Bangkok, they call it Krungthep Maha Nakhon, a shorthand version of it’s proper name, which apparently is the worlds longest place name.)
